Our Mission

Our mission is to provide the best learning platform to produce the best teachers for the upcoming needs of society — by providing them with quality education at an affordable cost, so as to mould the students into confident individuals with disciplined human values, and to build in them the ability to contribute to the educational growth of society by imparting quality teaching to each and every segment of it. We provide a healthy ambience for our students to pursue B.Ed and D.El.Ed.

The mission of Greet Teacher Training College is to develop and popularise methodical teaching at the secondary level of education, under the guidance of the NCTE and Vinoba Bhave University — to create a flow of manpower who are knowledgeable, efficient and employable not only in schools but also in NGOs, and who, even as members of society, are capable of contributing to the educational environment of society.

Where Our Students Go

Over the years, more than 400 students have earned their B.Ed degrees from GREET, and the D.El.Ed programme — introduced in 2019 — has grown with every batch. Our students come not only from Giridih district but from different parts of India, and almost all of them are now well placed in their lives.

Students completing their B.Ed from GREET can join M.Ed courses, or join services in private and government-aided schools. Students completing D.El.Ed can go on to B.Ed, or join as teachers in kindergarten or middle schools.

The Campus

In order to achieve its ambition of being a world-class education provider, Greet Teacher Training College has committed to significant enhancement of its facilities and buildings — essential for world-class teaching and the all-round development of students. The college has an extremely modern and state-of-the-art infrastructure that goes a long way in facilitating services for students as well as staff members.

The sprawling college campus at Pachrukhi is spread over 1.6 acres, with 45,000 sq. ft. of built-up area and 25,000 sq. ft. of open space for gardens and sports facilities. The teaching–learning process is facilitated in 20 classrooms, 7 tutorial rooms, two specialised laboratories, one state-of-the-art computer centre with high-speed internet connectivity, a seminar room, a conference room, an auditorium and a fully automated library. The entire campus is Wi-Fi enabled. The college also provides residential facilities for the Principal, teaching faculty and non-teaching staff. There are separate hostels for boys and girls with 24-hour security and all needed facilities. The college takes pride in being a differently-abled-friendly campus with new ramps, and there are separate common rooms for boys and girls — fully equipped with indoor games and recreation facilities.

Our Library

The college has a well-stocked library with nearly seven thousand books and regular subscriptions to magazines and daily newspapers. It caters to the needs of 400 students at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Library services are fully automated, with reading facilities for 100 students at a time. The library uses the library management software LibSys (version 7) and RFID technology for efficient management of the library, its services and user convenience. It is well equipped with modern facilities and resources — print and electronic — in the form of CD-ROMs, DVDs, video cassettes, books and journals. It has also developed a full-fledged digital library equipped with modern equipment to provide various digital modes of library services. The library follows the Dewey Decimal System of classification (23rd edition), and books are processed using the AACR-II code. The call number in the OPAC helps locate books on the shelves, which are arranged in numerical order from 000–999.

The library remains open on all working days — and during examinations it also opens on Saturdays, Sundays and other holidays. To become a member, students fill and submit the prescribed membership form to the library.

Learning Spaces

Classrooms

The college has 20 spacious, amphitheatre-style classrooms that provide the most conducive atmosphere for dynamic and focused discussions. They are designed to bring together analysis with action and are augmented with integrated audio–visual teaching aids for lectures and presentations. Special sessions, seminars and classes are also held on teaching etiquette, negotiation skills, effective communication, leadership, teamwork and analytical skills.

Auditorium

The college provides state-of-the-art conference halls with large seating capacity that act as a common ground for students, faculty and guest personalities for regular interfaces, conferences and other events. Here you will come across global thought leaders, academic gurus and academic heads who share their teaching experiences. For smaller events, the seminar halls — equipped with advanced presentation tools — are the ideal venue.

Music Room

The music room is equipped with a variety of instruments to facilitate students in their practical work and to build their skills of co-ordination across instruments. Students learn Hindustani vocal music and get chances to perform at college and inter-college functions.

Student Life

Sports Facilities

The sports facilities include a large playground, with intensive training imparted under expert guidance. Each year, students of Greet Teacher Training College achieve notable distinctions, and some are selected for All-India inter-university and national tournaments. Facilities are provided for athletics, badminton, volleyball and kabaddi.

Gymnasium

Students are provided with excellent gym and yoga facilities. The simple yet comfortable environment provides a congenial setting in which regular exercise and relaxation become a real pleasure, in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The gym sports a variety of equipment catering to virtually all sporting needs — from serious cardio-vascular workouts to maintaining a general level of fitness.

Canteen

The recently refurnished canteen is the hub of out-of-class discussion and exchange of information. It provides snacks, drinks and lunch at subsidised rates. All menus are designed by a team of professional dieticians and offer nutritious, wholesome food to ensure a well-balanced diet. The canteen also provides meals to all hostelers.

Medical Facilities

A medical room in the college provides first-aid needs. An allopathic doctor is available for consultation for three hours, twice a week; an ayurvedic doctor gives consultation twice a week, and a homoeopathic doctor visits once a week. The college has tie-ups with renowned hospitals to take care of any kind of emergency.

Hostel

At GREET you will be among students coming from all across the country — a home away from home. There are separate hostel facilities for boys and girls. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and hygienic with natural air and light; caring wardens and tight security arrangements ensure a pleasant stay, allowing students to focus on academics. Provision is made for both vegetarian and non-vegetarian food in the college canteen.

Scholarship

Scholarships are available for students as per government schemes.

Transport Facility

For the security and added comfort of our students and staff, we provide buses for transportation. The routes and pickup points are clearly laid out, and students are requested to follow the timings set for pickup.

1. To ensure the safety and security of girl students, on demand from parents, the institution provides transport at competitive rates on a no-profit, no-loss basis.
2. The college has employed qualified and experienced drivers.
3. As buses and seats are limited, transport is provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
4. The transport schedule is designed so that buses reach the campus 10 minutes before the commencement of academic work.
5. Students pay the prescribed fee in one lump sum for each academic year; no instalments are allowed.
6. Students are issued a bus pass under the seal of the Administrative Officer or another designated officer.
7. Students must produce the fee receipt on demand.
8. Students are advised to be at the boarding point 10 minutes before the scheduled arrival.
9. If a student arrives late after the bus has left, they must make their own transport arrangement — the college holds no responsibility.
10. In the evening, buses leave the college as per the schedule.
11. No change of schedule or route is permitted.
12. Buses run during the academic year as per the almanac; during summer and winter vacations, no transport facility is provided.
13. Buses do not run exclusively for B.Ed / D.El.Ed students — they adjust as per the schedule.
14. In case of sudden bus failure, students cooperate with the management and make their own arrangements; every effort is made to avoid such situations.

Vinoba Bhave University, Hazaribag

Vinoba Bhave University is a NAAC B++ accredited, MHRD NIRF ranked (101–150) state university, established on 17 September 1992, with its headquarters at Hazaribag — the administrative nerve centre of the North Chotanagpur Division of Jharkhand. The university imparts undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in Physical Science, Life Science, Earth Science, Social Science, Humanities, Commerce, Engineering, Medical Science, Law, Education, Homoeopathy and Ayurveda, and conducts seminal research. Twenty-five postgraduate and undergraduate constituent colleges are managed and maintained by the university — including St. Columba's College, Hazaribag, one of the oldest and most renowned academies of Eastern India (estd. 1899). Around seventy undergraduate, professional and vocational institutions across the state are affiliated to the university.

The university has distinguished faculty members and an illustrious alumni body. Registered with the UGC under Section 12B, it is a member of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Delhi, and the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU), London, as well.

The college is affiliated to Vinoba Bhave University for its B.Ed course.

Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi

The Jharkhand Academic Council was established for holding and conducting examinations of Intermediate, Secondary, Madhyama and Madarsa — from Vastaniyan to Fazil — for prescribing courses of study for such examinations, and for recommending recognition of intermediate educational institutions, high schools, Sanskrit schools and madrasas to the state government, besides carrying out such other examinations as assigned to the council by the state government from time to time. The council also accords opening permission to schools and inter colleges and recommends their recognition to the HRD department.

The present office was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chief Minister Sri Arjun Munda on 13.12.2003, under the chairmanship of the then HRD Minister Sri Pashupati Nath Singh.

Under the dynamic leadership of the state government, all branches of education — secondary, intermediate, Sanskrit (Madhyama) and madrasa — were brought under the single umbrella of the Jharkhand Academic Council, so that every branch of learning receives equitable and unified attention.

The college is affiliated to Jharkhand Academic Council, Ranchi for its D.El.Ed course.

The National Council for Teacher Education

The National Council for Teacher Education is an advisory body for the Central and State Governments on all matters pertaining to teacher education, with its secretariat in the Department of Teacher Education of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986 — and the Programme of Action thereunder — envisaged a National Council for Teacher Education with statutory status and necessary resources, as a first step towards overhauling the system of teacher education and ensuring the maintenance of standards.

Greet Teacher Training College is recognised by NCTE Bhubaneswar for both B.Ed and D.El.Ed courses. The college is recognised for the Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) course by NCTE Bhubaneswar vide letter no. ER-184.6.7/ERCAPP1684/B.Ed/2015/31122, from 2015 onwards. The college has a current intake capacity of 100 seats for B.Ed.

The college is recognised for the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed) course by NCTE Bhubaneswar vide letter no. ER-239.6.183(Part-5)/Id No.-9151/D.El.Ed./2017/52992/ERCAPP1684/B.Ed/2015/31122, from 2017 onwards. The college has a current intake capacity of 100 seats for D.El.Ed.

ISO 9001:2015 Quality Certification

The Accreditation Conformity Board for Certification Bodies (ACBCB) is an independent and impartial international accreditation body providing accreditation for conformity assessment bodies in the fields of certification and inspection. It is a non-profit organisation; accreditation by ACBCB demonstrates the competence and independence of the accreditation system based on assessment.

The college has been awarded the Quality Management System ISO 9001:2015 certification by ACBCB, as per certificate no. /IMC-QMS/90010G, valid up to 27.02.2021.

AISHE — All India Survey on Higher Education

To portray the status of higher education in the country, the Ministry of Human Resource Development has conducted an annual web-based All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) since 2010–11. The survey covers all institutions in the country engaged in imparting higher education. Data is collected on several parameters such as teachers, student enrolment, programmes, examination results, education finance and infrastructure. Indicators of educational development — such as institution density, gross enrolment ratio, pupil–teacher ratio, gender parity index and per-student expenditure — are also calculated from the data collected through AISHE, and are useful in making informed policy decisions and research for the development of the education sector.

Land Affidavit

The land affidavit is the Trust's sworn declaration of the land held for the institution at Pachrukhi, Rajdhanwar — submitted as part of the NCTE recognition process.

12A Registration — CIT Exemption

Registration under Section 12A of the Income-tax Act, 1961 grants the Trust exemption on income applied towards its charitable and educational objects.
